Crocus cafe

So, you want to fill your face with quality meat-free produce. Sure. But you don't want to spend a fortune, wear a kaftan, or endure a side salad of dreadlocked Swampy wannabes. Who does? Plonked between a few tower blocks – where portions of Shane Meadows' This is England were filmed – Crocus Café offers the above, with enough East Midland charm to ensure your feet stay firmly rooted to the concrete. Wholesome meals range from £1.80 for a bowl of soup, to £3.50 for spinach lasagne or a hefty salad. The menu changes when the food runs out; it's put together by an award-winning chef and dished out by volunteers. Cheap, wicked veggie pickings, without so much as a whiff of incense. Righteous stuff.
