Alley Café Bar
Up a seedy alley which looks more like a druggy's lair than a restaurant entrance, Alley Café still attracts a comforting mix of students, artists and other alternative types. They gather for local artwork on the walls and a veggie menu – happy hemp burgers did exactly what they said on the tin and left us grinning like a well-fed loon. The sloping roofs and bare rafters may make it feel like you've stepped into someone's loft conversion – but Itchy doubts your mate's lofts have their own funky DJs and Aretha Franklin-esque singers grooving in the corner. No offence, we're sure your mates are still cool.
