The Malt Cross
The building was an old music hall and retains the original layout with metal railings around the top verandah. On the top floor, there's also an exhibition space where they show local artists' works free of admission. They also encourage local musicians by offering open mic on Tuesdays and various acts including poetry and storytelling on Saturdays in a show called 'enjoy the Ride'. It's a not-for-profit company and daytime is a bit like the members' room at the Tate Modern, with mothers reading politically correct stories to groups of babblers. Best after dusk then?
