Ropewalk (The)

Unlike a lot of flash-in-the-pan bars that mushroom and wither within a season, The Ropewalk seems to be daily gaining in popularity. Quirky, spacious seating, decent background music, lively staff, original food and prices that won't knock you out as quickly as the pricey alcohol you're no doubt downing all make for a good night–or day and night–out. It's popular with students because of its location, perched on the top of Derby Road and similarly popular with the better-heeled of town who merely have to stagger two minutes back to their houses in the private estate flanking the main road.
