The Royal Children
The name comes from King James II's daughter, Anne, who was kept safe in Nottingham Castle while he dealt with rebellious nobles by prodding them heartily with pointy sticks. Midlanders being the welcoming folk that they are, she was quite taken by the place and decided to bring up her kids here. Sadly, none made it to adulthood but it seems they were around long enough for someone to dub a pub after them. Also of note is the whale bone on display, though what that has to do with the royals is best not discussed before you've had a jar or three.
