The Malt Cross

Originally a music hall built in 1877, The Malt Cross is one of those buildings that makes you feel all warm and nostalgic for a time you haven't even experienced. The over-played, slightly worn board games and thumbed books that are available to customers stir up a sense of good old-fashioned fun, and having consumed a few drinks (west-country folk among you will enjoy the Stowford Press) we've found ourselves coming over all 'Christmassy' sinking back into an armchair having been defeated in a game of Scattergories. The Malt Cross has avoided the metropolitan look that so many of our bars have adopted today and as a result feels alternative and yet deeply English all at the same time.
