Republic Bar Restaurant
Popular for (expensive) drinks and Cantonese food, this place doesn't come anywhere near its sibling restaurant, Opium, for atmosphere or quality of food. This is partly because the staff seem to be hard of hearing: ask for soft noodles and you'll end up with crispy; order pork, you'll get duck - and all at a snail's pace. Maybe they're trying for some sort of rigorous communist authenticity. Or maybe they're just a bit crap. Whatever, we don't know and we don't want to know. Get the bus into town instead.
