Phat 8
Grab a window seat in Phat 8 for a bird's-eye view of people strolling round the city centre. Although not greatly atmospheric - and you might find the plastic chairs on the harsh side if you're short of natural padding - the view and the food more than compensate. The menu combines unusual Vietnamese offerings, like glass noodle salad with basil and chicken, and better-known Cantonese dishes. There's a decent value set lunch menu, and it's the only place to go if you're into slurping noodle soup. Though that does mean it's probably not your best option for a first date.
