De Mao Diner
The De Mao express noodle bar was formerly a fairly grimy pub, but nowadays you'll need to put your shades on as you walk in since the furniture is, well, rather shiny. But look at it this way: it's worth offending your style taste for mains at around £3.50-£4. The menu is extensive, has loads of (carnivores, look away now) vegetarian options, and there's draught Chinese beer to wash it all down. The service is attentive as the place is vast and usually empty. Shame that, as it's the best value café-style Chinese in town - well, just out of town.
