The Ropewalk

Changing Rooms, eat yer heart out! The transformation of this pub is astounding. Recently renovated, it's gone from a tacky, student–oriented, 'It's a Scream' pub to a chilled–out, atmospheric, oasis of cool. Derby Road needed a bit of class and this is definitely it. Slightly more expensive than before its facelift, but certainly not cheeky, the extensive range of beer and wines on offer is enough to make your jaw drop. There's some tip–top nosh on offer too. Full marks have to go to décor though. Comfy sofas, cushions and candles contribute to the bar's relaxed vibe. The non–smoking upstairs level is a fantastic idea for those of us who don't want to wake up smelling of an ashtray.
