Rescue Rooms
Kind of a three trick pony this one – bar, live venue and club all in one. It's brought to Nottingham by the people behind Rock City – and if anyone knows how to go about running a gig venue, these chaps do. The 500 capacity bridges the gap between bigger and smaller venues in Nottingham but Rescue Rooms is ace for intimate gigs too. If live music isn't your bag, the bar caters nicely for relaxing drinks and a quick munch. At weekend club nights, the best in indie tunes gets spun.

POOR. (Thursday night) I ordered an overpriced drink from an unfriendly girl in glasses. I asked for a glass (for my bottle of ale) ...which she gave without comment - it was filthy!! deep red lipstick all over it and fingerprints. No apology, she just gave me another from the rack next to her - this too was as disgusting. She proceeded to check more glasses but to no avail - by this time I'd walked off with my drink to find a seat in the dark and tatty conditioned bar. I paid attention to the staff for the duration of the drink - they had nothing to do apart from chat and amuse themselves, in-between serving in robot fashion. The 'DJ' appeared to have spent his preparation time in the bathroom mirror and not filling his record box....fair enough using vinyl but get a damn anti static cloth!!! Thankfully it was time to go - and as I left I noticed that full rack of glasses was sat there, being used! what a dump of a place. Hoping it burns to the ground.
