The Walk

Don't press your nose through the looking glass

Review

When you walk (ahem) into The Walk, it's a little like being transported to Alice's Wonderland. There's a giant cake in the window, leading the way like a bakery beacon to all manner of colourful little cakes and pastries that you want to pop into your mouth in one go. Pictures of queer and wonderful things like bunnies' bottoms and herons in hats adorn the walls, and staff wander about in pearls and fascinators.

Once seated, you'll be presented with a choice of refreshments so achingly irresistible that you might need to order everything. Choose from a range of teas the Queen won't even know about, authentic coffees, gourmet sodas, wines and champagnes, lest we forget cakes, pastries, light meals and salads to titillate even the pickiest of taste buds.

Better still, go for breakfast (Itchy's favourite time to frequent The Walk) and sample eggs cooked to your liking served on toasted English muffins or smoked salmon and scrambled eggs with a glass of champagne if you're feeling important. And a twee little peach cupcake to finish, because it's rude not to. The mismatching genuine china in an otherwise modern and trendy establishment is the quirky cherry on the ever so tasty cake.
